These inspiring artists will perform alongside the talented women of The Pops Orchestra of Bradenton-Sarasota, under the masterful musical direction of Robyn Bell.

Theatre Odyssey 20th Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival
January 9 – 12
Theatre Odyssey’s 20th Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival, January 9 through 12, 2025, presents eight never-before-produced plays, all written by Florida playwrights. In addition, last season’s Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival’s Best Play is presented as a bonus play. The running time for each evening and matinee performance will be two hours including Intermission. This is an adjudicated festival and the award ceremony for the Best Play, Runner-up, and all finalists immediately follows the Sunday matinee. Michael Dorsey will go to any length for his career in this award-winning musical based on one of the funniest comedic films of all time. Michael Dorsey is a skilled actor with a talent for not keeping a job. Desperate and out-of-work, Michael makes a last-ditch effort at making his dreams come true…by disguising himself as actress Dorothy Michaels.

Before the iconic 1989 film broke box office records nationwide, Louisiana salon owner Truvy first set up shop on the stage. The colorful cast of regulars and employees that frequent her establishment include a mother-daughter duo planning a wedding, a woman who’s “been in a bad mood for 40 years,” and a mysterious newcomer. Through laughter, tears, and a thick fog of hairspray, these women face trials and triumphs armed with their greatest strength…each other.

The Temps, Tops, Supremes & Smokey: A Motown Revue The Motown Sound is now over 60 years old but it remains current and brings excitement and unforgettable memories for several generations of music lovers. The unique style of these groups composed of golden voices, extraordinary musicians and memorable choreography represent the very best of Hitsville and Detroit, MI. The Soul Sensations return for the fourth year with many new selections and great musical collective talent.
This performance will highlight some of the greatest hits from The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Smokey and the Miracles, Gladys Knight, The Jacksons, Martha and the Vandellas, the The Marvellettes and the Commodores.
The Soul Sensations and their talented friends will share the classic harmony and rhythm of Motown and invite you to sing and dance!
All net proceeds benefit the Manatee Performing Arts Center
